So, the weather...

This will be the official "announcements" area where we can share what we're learning and try to answer your questions. You can get to this page from the home page and the festival page of this site, or you can bookmark it.

Weather, schmeather! We're having a festival!

This is our final answer- the festival is happening.

Updated Friday Oct 12 at 5:20pm

Oct 12 @ 5:20pm We are ON, no cancelling is coming. We'll likely get a dash of rain-like something midafternoon, which should pass quickly and may not even interrupt us. So bring what you need to perform rain or shine, and to sit even if things get wet. Prepare to support all of our singers by preparing for whatever comes and NOT scurrying away at the first drop.

Oct 11 @ 11:51pm Nothing to report, which is great news. Bring a poncho either way. :-)

Oct 11 @ 4:26pm. So far, optimism rains! I mean reigns. Okay, terrible pun. But the point is that if any rain might arrive, it will be light and near the end of the event. What does this mean? Well, it means we all need to keep everything on time or ahead of schedule. So please make sure you're on time and ready for your mic checks, and that you try to keep your stage time to the allotted 15 minutes regardless of what the clock says: start early, finish early! Of course, bring a hooded jacket anyways, and so far everything is a go!

Oct 11 @ 11am. If your ensemble feels the need to cancel even before we publish a final decision, we understand. Some of you are traveling from far away or juggling multiple events. Let us know as soon as you decide. Write us at festival@vocalrevolution.org with the news.

Oct 11 @ 10:50am. Today we woke to a sudden recalculation of predicted weather, and what looked like a perfect day is suddenly looking far less than perfect. Weather predictions vary depending on where you get the information, but at the moment consensus is that there is a more-than-50% chance of rain on Sunday -- but lack of consensus on when that rain might start. One report has the %s climbing to at least 25% by 8am. The temperatures are also lower than anticipated. In a nutshell, it's not looking good. We did a quick search for an indoor venue but that didn't work out - and we don't have a rain date, so if we can cancel, that'll be it for 2024. So while we're clearly invested in making this happen, we might have to make some awkward and unfortunate decisions, including cancelling some ensembles, ending early, or cancelling the entire event.
